Middle School Community,
I am writing to ensure that you are updated as our district prepares to increase our “live” instruction, both in the in-person and remote models. At the middle school, the tentative start date for these changes is April 5th. In the meantime, there are some logistical scheduling issues to address. I assure you that the necessary planning for this change has been thorough, with the emphasis on safety and to ensure that the transition is routine.
Here are a few answers to some common questions we have been receiving:
·        Hybrid students are automatically considered in-person students (no need to contact us)
·        Some remote students have opted to change to the in-person, “live” instructional model
·        ALL students will receive “live” instructional increases, four days then five days per week
·        The exact date for “live” 5 days per week will be announced through our district office
·        Lunches will continue to be delivered to classrooms
·        Lockers will not be used
·        Faculty will continue to escort students when moving in the building
·        Spring Sports are back at PCMS.  Softball, Baseball and Track and Field will take place beginning in April.  All students must register online through FamilyID.  The link is on our school website under Athletics.  You must have an up-to-date physical on file with the office in order to participate.  If you have questions, please connect with Mrs. McAteer, our Athletic Director.
 
Our student class sizes will range from 12-17, which allows for up to 5’ spacing between students. Student and teacher shields, along with wearing masks and routine washing of hands will continue to be our practice. The pandemic continues and there will no doubt, be times when a quarantine may occur. We have a strong central office that works hand-in-hand with our nurse, Mrs. Desimone, NDDH (Northeast District Department of Health), and DPH (Department of Public Health) to guide our decisions.
