Fifth Grade Transition

May 30, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Plainfield Central Middle School.  As your child prepares to transition to the middle school level, we wish to inform you of several important transition activities that have been planned.

Currently, our middle school counselors have scheduled visitations with each class at Plainfield Memorial School during the months of May and June.  Included in these visitations will be a presentation of common questions and answers provided by current middle school students and support service staff members.

In early June, all grade five students are scheduled to visit the Central School for a walk-through of our complex.  This visit allows students, along with their current classmates and teachers, to receive a personal welcome and introduction to the building during regular school hours.

Please SAVE THE DATEThursday, August 22nd, from the hours of 8:30-10:30 a.m., we will be hosting a Grade Six Meet and Greet Welcome Back Program.  Incoming grade six students, along with their parents/guardians will receive an orientation to the building from the administrative and teaching staff teams.  Support service representatives will also be represented on this day.

Here is our schedule for this exciting morning:

8:30 – 9:00           Arrival and Check-in, Cafeteria, light breakfast served

9:00-9:20              Welcome Back Presentation – Administration/Support Staff

9:25 – 10:15         Teacher/Room Introductions and Walk-through Presentations

10:20                     Staff Meeting

Student schedules are routinely mailed out in mid-August.  This orientation will benefit the students in a variety of ways.  First and foremost, only incoming grade six students will have access to our orientation, which creates an instant and personal connection with our school teams.  Secondly, classroom visitations with our 6th grade teaching staff will take place.  Thirdly, school-wide tours will be provided and locker practice can and usually does occur.

We look forward to meeting you and working with you and your children during your Plainfield Central Middle School “Royal” years.  Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Scott W. Gagnon, Principal
